Garage Smart Sensor Example

  1. Open the door Its contact sensor switches compatible lights on.
  2. Close the door A discreet motion sensor keeps the lights on while movement is detected and you continue to use the garage.
  3. After you leave After a set period with no motion detected, typically around two minutes, the lights switch off.

What you need: smart lightbulb(s), a contact sensor and a motion detector.

App, voice and normal controls remain available where configured. We test the sensors, coverage and delay together; standing still may require a longer timer or manual override.

What we check together

The sensor, hub and connection determine which chimes or phone alerts are possible. Detection does not physically lock an opening or guarantee a response.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS IDEA

Door, window & sensor questions

All questions →
What happens when a door or window opens?

We can set a useful response for selected contact sensors: a hub chime, compatible sounder or phone notification. The exact options depend on the equipment and setup. We agree who should hear what and test it before handover.

Where do contact sensors go?

Often at the top of a front or back door, or a selected downstairs window, where the two small pieces meet when closed. We check frame material, gap and access, then fit them as discreetly as the opening allows.

How are false or excessive notifications controlled?

We agree which events matter, then set detection zones, sensitivity, schedules and recipients where the selected model supports them. We test a normal day and adjust the alerts.

Battery, mains or wired network?

We choose after checking the position, charging access, reliable power, network coverage and whether continuous viewing is needed. Each route has different maintenance and installation needs.
